Terms & Conditions
Debbie’s Driving School
Terms and Conditions
By booking, purchasing or attending lessons with Debbie’s Driving School, you agree to the following terms and conditions.
1. Bookings and payment
Lessons must be paid for at least seven days in advance, unless otherwise agreed. Unpaid bookings may be released and offered to another learner.
Lesson prices and durations will be agreed when booking. Block bookings must be paid for in full. Payment secures the discounted block-booking rate and confirms acceptance of these terms and conditions.
2. Non-refundable block bookings
Block-booking payments are non-refundable if the learner:
- Changes their mind.
- Decides to stop taking lessons.
- Moves out of the area.
- Changes driving instructor or driving school.
- Passes their driving test before using all the purchased hours.
- Fails to arrange or attend lessons within the agreed validity period.
This does not affect the learner’s statutory consumer rights or any refund expressly provided under these terms.
3. Block-booking validity
Block-booking lessons must be used within 12 months of the purchase date.
Any unused lessons will normally expire after this period without a refund. A reasonable extension may be granted in exceptional circumstances or where Debbie’s Driving School has been unable to provide lessons.
Any extension must be requested and agreed in writing before the block expires.
4. Transfers
Block bookings are for the named learner only. They cannot be transferred, shared, exchanged for cash or sold to another person without prior written agreement from Debbie’s Driving School.
5. Lesson prices
If the standard lesson price increases after a block has been purchased, the hours already included in the paid block will remain protected at the original agreed rate.
Any lessons purchased after the block has been used or expired will be charged at the current lesson price.
6. Cancelling or rearranging lessons
At least 48 hours’ notice must be given to cancel or rearrange a lesson.
When sufficient notice is given, the lesson may be rearranged and no time will be deducted from the learner’s block-booking balance.
Lessons cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice, or missed without notice, will normally be charged in full or deducted from the remaining block-booking balance.
Exceptions may be considered for genuine emergencies at the instructor’s discretion. Any charge applied will reflect the circumstances and loss incurred.
7. Arriving for lessons
Please be ready at the agreed time and meeting point.
If you have not arrived or contacted me within 15 minutes of the agreed start time, I may leave and apply the cancellation policy.
If I am late, any lesson time lost will be added to the lesson, made up at a future appointment or refunded.
8. Instructor cancellations and refunds
If Debbie’s Driving School cancels a lesson because of illness, vehicle problems, severe weather, unsafe road conditions or another unavoidable circumstance, no time will be deducted from the learner’s balance.
The learner may choose to rearrange the affected lesson or receive a refund for that individual lesson.
If Debbie’s Driving School ends the tuition arrangement or becomes permanently unable to provide the remaining prepaid lessons, the unused balance will be refunded, less the value of lessons already provided and any valid outstanding charges.
Refunds will not normally be provided when the learner chooses to end the tuition arrangement.
9. Your driving licence and eyesight
You must hold a valid driving licence and provide your licence details and a DVLA check code before your first lesson.
You must tell me immediately about any changes to your licence or driving entitlement.
You must meet the legal eyesight requirements for driving and wear glasses or contact lenses whenever required.
10. Fitness to drive
Please arrive fit and legally able to drive, wearing suitable clothing and footwear.
You must tell me about any illness, injury, medication or other circumstances that could affect your ability to drive safely.
A lesson may be stopped or postponed if I reasonably believe that driving would be unsafe. This includes suspected impairment through alcohol or drugs. Any charge applied will reflect the circumstances and loss incurred.
11. Your tuition vehicle
Lessons will normally take place in a maintained, dual-controlled vehicle insured for professional driving tuition and practical driving tests.
Please treat the vehicle respectfully and follow all safety instructions.
Deliberate or reckless damage may result in the lesson being stopped and reasonable costs being charged where legally appropriate.
12. Driving tests
You must agree the date, time and test centre with me before booking, changing or swapping your practical driving test. Please send me the booking confirmation promptly.
Use of the tuition vehicle on test day requires a minimum booking of two hours and 30 minutes at your normal lesson rate. This must be paid at least five days before the test.
Any additional lesson or travelling time will be discussed and agreed in advance. This payment is separate from the DVSA test fee.
The tuition vehicle will be available for your test only if:
- I am available on the selected date.
- You have reached a safe and suitable test standard.
- You have demonstrated this standard consistently during lessons and mock tests.
- I am satisfied that the vehicle can be used safely and responsibly.
If I have concerns about your readiness, I will discuss them with you as early as reasonably possible.
I am under no obligation to provide the tuition vehicle if I reasonably consider that you are not ready to take the test safely.
DVSA rules and charges apply separately when cancelling or changing your practical driving test.
13. Maintaining your test standard
Long waiting times may mean that you become test-ready well before your test date.
You may agree a break from lessons with me, but you must normally resume with a two-hour lesson each week during the four to six weeks before your test.
We will agree the restart date and book these lessons before your break, subject to availability. This helps you maintain your skills and allows me to confirm that you remain ready to take the test safely.
If the agreed preparation lessons are not completed, I cannot guarantee use of the tuition vehicle for your test.

15. Agreement
By booking lessons or purchasing a block booking, the learner—or the person purchasing on their behalf—confirms that they have read, understood and accepted these terms and conditions.
